What EBC Believes

At EBC, everything we believe, do, and trust

is submitted under the authority of the Bible alone.

Since we affirm the Bible to be the only source of truth directly revealed from God, it is the only authority we adhere to for what we believe (faith) and how we

live (practice). It is only by God’s Word that the truth of the gospel of salvation through Christ has been communicated. For the Christian, our worldview is shaped by the Bible, our heart is transformed by the Bible, and our will is submitted to the Bible. The Bible is a living book, from a living God, for eternal life. It stands alone as God’s perfect, complete, and closed

revealed Word to Mankind. What God has said is authoritative, what God has

promised is certain, and what God has decreed is final.

An equal share of Godhead exists eter-nally in the relationship between the Triune Godhead of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. It is for God’s glory alone that God acts as He chooses, wills as He pleases, and rules as He desires.

God is specific in regards to the how, who, and why behind salvation.

Only by the actions of God’s grace alone has He chosen to extend salvation. Nothing more and nothing less. The human

conditions for salvation are repentance and faith.

As the Son of God, Jesus Christ has always been God, became a man through the

virgin birth, lived a perfect life, and died a substitutionary death for sin. Just as He physically rose again, He will visibly physically one day return. It is only through the Son, Jesus Christ, alone that God can be reconciled with man.

All of mankind is born fallen, sinful, and depraved.

God’s plan of salvation from these conditions has been His purpose throughout the ages. Since all humanity has a default state of unrighteousness and separation from God, the only way one can be declared righteous by God and justified before God is faith alone in the work of Christ. This begins, secures, and guarantees a lifelong relationship with God that can never be separated.

After death, the reality of a final state of full consciousness and both a bodily and soul destination is certain. For the unrepentant one who rejects Christ, their punishment is everlasting death in torment. For the repentant one who accepts Christ, their reward is everlasting

life in glory.

Our Baptist Distinctions

What does the “Baptist” denomination mean?

The only authority that God has given to man is the Bible. This means that the Bible alone dictates faith and life. At EBC, traditions, rituals, additional “revelations,” and human reasoning are inferior and never equal to the Bible. Followers of Jesus are to demonstrate Jesus’ teachings through their living, which will in turn influence the world around them. We do not believe that the government should dictate religious authority over the church, nor the church dictate authority over the government. We believe that the New Testament church has only been instructed to observe two ordinances: baptism and communion (The Lord’s Supper). Baptism, following salvation, is a demonstration and testimony of a Christian’s profession of faith and repentance in Christ. Per Jesus’ command, regular observance of The Lord’s Supper serves both as a remembrance of Christ’s atoning work on the cross and a celebration of what we receive by His sacrifice.

If you would like more information on the church’s formal statement of faith, further clarification on the church’s beliefs, or additional clarification on the church’s position on other areas, please contact us. However, while documents are certainly important and necessary for a church’s official position on doctrinal matters, please consider observing a service in person to gain a sense of how we live out what we believe.
