What Grounds Us
Let’s face it, this world can be overwhelming!
This world offers no permanent happiness, no genuine joy, no certainty of hope, and no absolute truth.
Life is becoming increasingly characterized by confusion, chaos, disorder, fear, hate, division, and uncertainty. These are the exact words that describe a life apart from Christ and separated from God1… But it does not have to be this way! In fact, this is not how God has designed it! According to God’s Word, anyone2 by faith who turns from everything and to God3 through Christ4, God gives new life and harmonious relationship with Him5. Upon faith, a relationship with God brings happiness6, lasting joy7, certainty of hope8; all of which is established by absolute truth9. This new life and outlook is characterized by peace,10 comfort11, order12, love13, safety14, unity15 and certainty16.
At EBC it is not only our privilege to enjoy these blessings in our life, but also our passion to share these blessings of wonderfully good news with others.
We are a people that have been saved from ourselves by God’s grace through Christ’s death.
As imperfect people serving a perfect God, we are a local church family that loves each other17, encourages each other18, cares for each other19, and seeks to help each other grow to be more like Jesus20. You will quickly realize that we are warm, kind, loving and passionate about praising our God.
Our desire is to give God the glory He alone is due 21 and see that others come to know Him by the praise that we are giving and the testimony we are living. The church’s name Emmanuel means “God with us”22. God in human form, Jesus Christ came to earth to reconcile and save sinners23. Because God is with us… we cannot help but let the light of Jesus shine through us, so that God’s name is glorified by us!24
